Cruisin' Thru 2019 Lacey & Joe

This week, Lacey & Joe discuss a football movie while simultaneously striving to overcome the handicap of not actually knowing much of anything about football. Courageously, though, they fight on, and come back to win the real prize: giving a mediocre review to a film they didn’t much care for.

This week, Joe and Lacey can hardly contain their adulation for the film: the razor-sharp script, the evocative score, and the star-making performances all get shouted out in a jam-packed episode that was actually kind of a pain to edit. They hope their enthusiasm can make up for any auditory inadequacies.

This week's film is "Losin' It," a by-the-numbers sex comedy that is even less enjoyable than that sounds. Joe and Lacey cringe their way through manically unlikable characters, double entendres so blatant that they could qualify as single entendres, and an entire character arc that just revolves around wanting to see a donkey show. Also, they grapple with how to mention "donkey show" on a family-friendly podcast.

This week's film is "The Outsiders," the first of 4 movies Tom released in 1983. Lacey and Joe discuss the surprisingly "woke" male characterizations, engage in the legally-mandated jokes about Leif Garrett, and do their best to avoid dental-shaming.

Joe and Lacey kick things off with a double dose of Cruise, discussing the first two films in which Tom ever appeared. This episode has it all: arson, toxic masculinity, and some truly schmaltzy soundtrack snippets.
