Software Engineer, Nathaniel Schmitz, joins me in sharing his thoughts on the documentary Seaspiracy. We share our perspectives on the Netflix documentary, and discuss how effective storytelling can connect a broader audience to an environmental challenge. Along the way we debate whether scientists make good storytellers and how accurate should documentaries be. Finally we share whether we'd recommend this documentary to environmental and non-environmental audiences. Let us know what your thoughts are! 

Join me for a solo episode where I discuss how the recent increase in Anti Asian sentiment has opened up channels of reflection where I learn about how white supremacy has shaped my Chinese Canadian experience. I first start with revisiting childhood memories and exchanges that changed the relationship I had with my culture. From there I see how the internalized shame and loathing influenced my behaviours and where I sought validation from in my formative years into adulthood. Finally, I explain how the recent boom in grassroots media and Asian representation has allowed me to reclaim my identity and become proud of my heritage.

With so many eco-certifications and a companies claiming net zero in the coming years, it's hard to know who's actually making a difference and what that change looks like. Green washing has skyrocketed recently and without proper research it's easy to assume those companies are reducing their environmental impact. This podcast with Liliana Camacho will hopefully answer some of those questions.
