Ep 40: Steve Stratton | Retired Green Beret | US Secret Service | Author | Shadow Tier Series KIT CAGE

    • Diários

Steve grew up in Northern California, Pacific coast, and Redwoods. Camping in the redwoods is his earliest memory.
"During Vietnam I moved to SF bay area for father’s work. Late 71 moved back north. Graduated High School 72, joined Army Dec 73. After 9 months training as Radio operator/repairer assigned to White House Communications Agency supporting President, Vice President, and Secretary of State. Traveled the US and world on advance teams setting up communications for principle and staff. 4.5 years later switched to US Secret Service as a Technical Security Specialist working alarms and video at White House, VP residence, and Presidential Candidates homes. Traveled as part of Secret Service advance teams working safety and counter-IED with EOD teams for President, VP, and Secretary of State travel. In 7 years supported President’s Nixon, Ford, Carter, and President Elect Reagan. Supported Vice Presidents, and Sec of State Kissinger.
Resigned in 1980 and took position with GE at nuclear weapons facility. GE sent me to school where I started on my path in networks and security. In 1986 I was awarded my Green Beret and assigned to 2Bn 20th Special Forces Maryland National Guard (aligned with 7th Special Forces in the Southern Command region). 1987 took a position as contractor at US Central Command and later at US Special Operations Command. Over the years my focus has been information sharing from intelligence down to the warfighter and from warfighter and systems into intelligence.
From 1986 – 2000 was a 18B Weapons Sgt on a HALO team and before I retired as the acting Team Sergeant for ODA 2031. Deployments include counter-drug, reconnaissance and foreign military training in Panama and Columbia.
At the same time my full-time job was (I retired June 30th) ensuring mission system were secure and working with NSA to deploy solutions to automate and improve information sharing. Systems I helped design and get approved for implementation are supporting the 5VEYs (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) intelligence, operations/warfighters, and Law Enforcement access and transfer data that protects warfighters/agents and ensures mission success.

Two of my favorite charities are Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Vets to Farmers.
