The idea of “authenticity” always comes up during election cycles and when critical issues that can impact a mass of people are being debated. Voters want to get to know politicians on a more personal level, and being seen as authentic has become even more important. Given these tumultuous times, how hard is it for politicians to say what they’re really thinking and feeling, rather than what they’re supposed to think and feel? Councilmember At-Large Derek Green, Esquire is a member of the Philadelphia City Council. Derek chairs the Committee on Finance and Disabilities, and also serves as the Chair of the Committees on Aging and Law and Government.
