For The Love Of Music & Arsenal with Alex Hoffman

For The Love Of Music & Arsenal with Alex Hoffman

Episode 4 is here! Thanks for all the kind words so far. I hope you enjoy this conversation with my buddy, Alex.
Alex has worked at MTV, VICE and now leads the video team at Arsenal FC, which sounds like a dream job for the North Londoner who grew up in the Ian Wright era, frequenting Highbury.
At MTV he was a producer on the Gonzo show with Zane Lowe, then moved to VICE and headed up their music division, NOISEY. From there, Alex created and commissioned many great documentaries. I could have spoken to him for hours. My biggest take away was that if you love something, move towards it. Alex loves music so he immersed himself in the culture and sought out ways to blend that into his career. Inspiring stuff.
As always let me know your thoughts and share with anyone you think might enjoy this chat.

For The Love Of Broadcasting with Jon Anik

For The Love Of Broadcasting with Jon Anik

Hello friends. This conversation is a really special one for me as I got to talk about sports commentary with a man who knows more about it than I do, Jon Anik. Jon is the lead play-by-play commentator for the UFC and he's been a friend and ally in the sports biz to me.
During our chat we talk about how Jon graduated as a journalist, started in print media but soon aspired to be a commentator. After angling for various gigs, he eventually landed some work in football (the American type) before being offered a seat at Bellator 1!
Jon and I joked about our respective voices and how and why they have changed and comparisons to other sports broadcasting roles. We talk in depth about how we both prep for a UFC broadcast and how differ we are from one another and how we are similar. So if you're an aspiring commentator or a behind the scenes geek, this is for you!
As always I'm keen to know what you thoughts on the conversation. Hit me up @johngoodenuk and let Jon know too @jon_anik
