    Shelby County General Sessions Court encompasses 15 judges and 170 employees and collects and distributes $40 million related to cases annually. Gortria Banks oversees the financial department for General Sessions and identifies ways to improve collection efforts.

    What will change in the next year? A new case management system for our civil division with added features of blockchain for court judgments, data analytics to drive efficiency, and electronic fillings to increase revenue and cost savings

    Key goal to achieve: To succeed my boss as clerk of General Sessions Court

    Turning point: Going back to college to get my master’s degree

    Favorite task: Coaching and being a mentor to junior employees

    Most challenging task: Creating revenue analyses from different data silos

    Biggest challenge at the moment: Identifying new interfaces for customers to be reminded of their costs and court date by text, and to integrate new tech for new payment channels for end users

    How do you measure success? Customer satisfaction, increased collection of debt, and employee retention and morale
