“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” 🌐|💖 - Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Happy (belated) 2024 🎉 -- it feels great to be back after a break, and it's MLK holiday weekend in the states! (*MLK National Day of Service: Monday, 1/15*)

Considering the current state of conflict throughout the world and recent attempts to dismantle anti-oppression initiatives, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, global/universal legacy + vision for diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, justice, and peace resonate now as much as (perhaps more than) ever.

We're long overdue for a paradigm shift in our systems... Rather than resorting to tearing people/places/things/spaces down as a means to an end, what if conflict was explored with the intention for everyone to win, as reasonably as possible? Instead, what if we built the world + each other up? 💡

Each day is a fresh start and a chance to recalibrate our own vision for justice + definition of authentic living -- especially in the spirit of the new year. Ultimately, the elements of Dr. King's mission were intrinsic motivations, cultivated from within. How can each of us begin to nurture / continue to nurture that energy within ourselves, while giving others permission to do the same in their own way in 2024 (and beyond)? Injustice (misalignment) that stems from the inner self, whether directed toward ourselves or others, is indeed a threat to justice everywhere...

This curated episode features a recent CBS News interview with the renowned Oprah Winfrey where she answers these existential questions, explores overcoming challenges/conflict + life lessons, travels the road to "happier-ness" and highlights practical/spiritual/uplifting mental health tips from her new book co-authored with Harvard professor and social scientist, Arthur C. Brooks, "Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier." ☯ (more at: cbsnews.com/person-to-person)
