On February 28, 1993, 75 federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms closed in on Mount Carmel, the headquarters of the Branch Dividian religious group. They had an arrest warrant for the group's leader, David Koresh, on suspicions that he was housing an illegal arsenal of weapons.
