MR. STANDFAST (CHAP 5) by JOHN BUCHAN 1001 Stories For The Road

Hannay makes contact with Gresson and they share a livestock carrier up the coast as far as Skye, with Hannay under Gresson's watchful eye. Sure that Gresson no longer suspects him, Hannay heads overland to reach a lead mine- a destination that has reached him as an order to find Amos there. On land, Hannay finds out he is wanted by the law, and manages to elude two close calls.
