Ep 22 - Mental Health with Sammy Dobson Part 2

Ep 22 - Mental Health with Sammy Dobson Part 2

We’re back with Sammy this week for the second part of our mammoth interview - about living with OCD, about the car accident that changed her life in 2010, and how therapy has helped her manage Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

This candid and in-depth conversation features Sammy describing the aftermath of her car accident and the injuries she retained from it, so anyone who may find this distressing is advised to take caution with this episode and the one before it.

Thanks again to Sammy for sharing her experiences with us, and for giving such an open, detailed, and at many times funny insight into living with mental health issues.

N.E. Thing Funny brings you news, reviews and interviews from the North East of England's comedy scene! Originally broadcast live on Spark, powered by the University of Sunderland. Produced by Peff Soulsby and Kate Murphy, With original music composed and produced by Esmé Newman, Audio Witch.

Ep 21 - Mental Health with Sammy Dobson Part 1

The warm Geordie comic Sammy Dobson is talking to us on this episode, in the first part of an in-depth conversation about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and how and why it came into her life.

In one of our most candid interviews to date, as part of our ongoing mental health season, Sammy lets us in on her experiences with the condition, what it was like to grow up with an imaginary sister who wasn’t invented by her, and gives her views on women talking about sex as she tells us about her recent Jesterval show ‘Listless’.

Ep 19 - with Iain Lee and Katherine Boyle, Funny Way to Be Comedy & Splitting Sides

2 Peters and an Iain are on this episode, and not just any Peters and any Iain - first Pete Shilton, host of Byker’s prime comedy night Splitting Sides, talks to us about who’s on the bill doing just that at their 20th July show, followed by a chat with returning guest Peter Dixon, letting us know which stars are studding the line-up at Durham’s Funny Way to Be this Saturday in FOUR back-to-back Fringe preview shows.

And we’re over the moon as talkRADIO’s Iain Lee and Katherine Boyle take us down The Rabbit Hole, their phone-in podcast taped in front of a live audience, which last night was recorded at The Stand Newcastle. Find out what they had to say to Peff right before they went on stage.
