Are Family Values Determined by Love or Traditional Practices or Culture?

Are Family Values Determined by Love or Traditional Practices or Culture?

Often in most Chinese families, sons are the much preferred offspring simply because they have the ability to continue the family line. The daughters are always expected to do all the care-taking responsibilities while the sons are all about career progress. Between parental love and traditional culture, do parents still lean towards traditional thinking that privileges are given to the sons and the daughters remain under appreciated despite everything that is done for the family. These forms some of the family values we may grow up in. This episode is much inspired by the Thai movie How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies and a little connection with the message brought by the cartoon, Inside Out 2 on emotions.

Can we be Open in our Mind & Heart?

We all have biases, an inclination or prejudice toward or against something or someone based on our experience, knowledge, etc.

Having an open mind takes us out of our
comfort zone & experience the unfamiliar so we can enhance our knowledge/learnings
or get to know of a different concept of a similar area of interest.
On this episode, I share the importance having an open mind and how we can cultivate it.

Happiness seems like a trendy word these days and has various meanings to it. We also expect others to do the work for us or if there is an easy pursuit to finding our own peace; except that all these work are of our own efforts. Returning to home as taught by the late Thich Nhat Hanh has brought a lot of small blissfulness in my life. It requires Looking within Self and I am happy to share the steps on this episode with you.
