Growing up north of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario in Haviland Bay, Mac Marcoux was surrounded by snow and hit the slopes at Searchmont Resort at an early age of four-years-old. He assumed skiing as his identity seemingly overnight. At the ripe age of eight years old, the now 22-year-old started to lose his eyesight due to a degenerated, Stargardt disease. At the age of 15 as a class B3 visually impaired athlete, Mac hit the slopes internationally to represent his home country of Canada on the IPC World Cup circuit. In 2104, Marcoux was the youngest of the Paralympic Alpine team when he represented Canada winning one gold and a bronze at the 2014 Sochi Paralympic Games in Sochi Russia.  In 2018, the Havilland Bay native headed to Pyeongchang, Korea for his Paralympic Games whereas an 18-year-old, Mac brought home one gold and two bronze.  

With a short cut 2020 racing season, Mac captured first place finishings at the Canadian Nationals and a first-place finish in Slovenia before the COVID-19 virus brought a crashing halt to his season.  Now as a 22-year-old, Marcoux is preparing for the 2020-2021 race season and hopefully training for the 2022 Paralympics in Bejing, China.
