Ron Himes, founder of our magnificent StLouis Black Repertory Theater Company was on hand to talk about the Blk Repertory’s new production of Timbuktu, debuting last evening at the Edison Theater on the Washington University campus. -----
 
 
We were privileged to be there for opening night to witness another spectacular performance by the StLouis The St. Louis Black Repertory Company. ------
 
Timbuktu is a dazzling play, a musical drama that we thoroughly enjoyed along with our guest, Sheila Reed, of St.Louis Public radio and former State Representative, James Whitmore. Andreal Hoosman and Nicole Adewale along with hubby Abe Adewale, Clement and Marsha Cann, were just a few of the many friends, I spotted enjoying opening night of TIMBUKTU! Book by Luther Davis, music and lyrics by Robert Wright , at the Edison Theater at Washington University. ----- 

Episode 160 of the Kdhx podcast Tangazo, features St. Louis legends jazz musicians Dwight and Dwayne Bosman, fabulous musicians and that have been caring the banner for jazz music better than 50 years. ------

The iconic Jazz twins are a mainstay at Winters Jazz Club,in downtown Chicago they are also booked for a week long engagement in Stuttgart  Germany, later this year. -----

In the second hour of the Kdhx podcast Tangazo, there’s a great discussion on the circumstances involving the Palestinian protesters disrupting University’s campus life, while finals are going on. ------

We also noticed the lack of participation by the African-American community and any of the protest that we’ve seen across the country and we ask ourselves why.
We also discuss our disappointment with the local Palestinian communities lack of positive contributions to the black communities from which they derive their living.-----


 

It was indeed Tangazo Thursday today, on 88.1 was everything that we expected it to be for its 159th episode, presenting African American perspectives on political and cultural issues.------
We began with an expansive in-depth discussion with former State Senator Rita Heard Days, Vice Chairman of the StLouis County Council and her efforts to fund a world class Track facility in north county, adjacent to the University of Missouri at St.Louis campus. -----
 
Our conversation included a discussion on the collaboration ,of 18 north county municipalities to form a special sales tax district, ;-to fund road and street repairs. ---- 
There’s talk of more collaboration in the future, amongst the 35 plus cities that make up north county. 
In the second hour, Dr. Benjamin Quillian of Long Beach Calif. joined Michael Wesley Jones of the StLouis American Newspaper and activist Attorney, Jerryl Christmas aka “Nat Turner” to talk about their experiences while visiting the Republic of Ghana, in west Africa. ---- 
We are joined by Dr. Alexander Oladele, founder of the Jet Black Travel Agency, that specializes in travel arrangements for groups of African Americans,desiring to visit their ancestral homeland,Africa. ----
