    The Aftermath: The Dust Bowl

    The Aftermath: The Dust Bowl

New Guest Expert! On this week’s Aftermath, Rebecca speaks with Dr. Gabi Hegerl about her expertise in climate system science and how her research on the record breaking heat waves during the 1930’s in America’s great plains led her to one of their biggest contributing factors, what we now know as The Dust Bowl. Afterward, Patreon subscribers can hear the post-interview breakdown with Producer Clayton Early and Fact Checker Chris Smith and reflect with the crew on some of the simple and approachable ways Dr. Hegerl suggested we as a society began addressing our climate concerns. THE DUST BOWL: WHO IS TO BLAME?

THE DUST BOWL: WHO IS TO BLAME?

Who’s to blame for The Dust Bowl?
This week, The Alarmist (Rebecca Delgado Smith) welcomes fellow podcaster Mike Rugnetta, host of Never Post, to discuss a major bump in the road during America’s westward expansion. Well, more like a big bowl of dust which swept up the country's notion of manifest destiny. Was this wheat bubble also part of our destiny or was it created by poor planning and farming practices? Perhaps WWI had something to do with it? And let us never forget Mother Nature! Fact Checker Chris Smith and Producer Clayton Early join the conversation.

THE CANCELLATION OF ARMIE HAMMER: WHO IS TO BLAME?

THE CANCELLATION OF ARMIE HAMMER: WHO IS TO BLAME?

Who’s to blame for the cancellation of Armie Hammer?
This week, The Alarmist (Rebecca Delgado Smith) welcomes friends and hosts of the podcast Non Drinking Buddies Rebekka Johnson and Anne Gregory to discuss the highly disturbing circumstances around the cancelation of Hollywood celebrity Armie Hammer. They’re joined by Fact Checker Chris Smith and Producer Clayton Early. How does kink shaming factor into the toxic power dynamics at play? Could an obsession with public image be to blame? Or perhaps this is the result of a generational legacy of dysfunction and cruelty.

THE ASSASSINATION OF JULIUS CAESAR: WHO IS TO BLAME?

THE ASSASSINATION OF JULIUS CAESAR: WHO IS TO BLAME?

Who’s to blame for the Assassination of Julius Caesar?
This week, The Alarmist (Rebecca Delgado Smith) welcomes comedian DeAnne Smith to discuss the alluring life of Julius Caesar and his dramatic ascension to prominence, adoration and ultimately assassination. They’re joined by Fact Checker Chris Smith and Producer Clayton Early. Were Caesar’s dictator tendencies the cause of his demise? Was Brutus destined to carry out this violent act to honor his family's legacy? Or was Caesar himself to blame for ignoring all the obvious bad omens? One thing seems clear, if someone tells you to beware the Ides of March, you best be bewared.

My favorite podcast!

Hi, guys! My name is Karen and I am from Brazil! I really love the podcast! It combines so many things that I love such as history and comedy. And, it’s a way for me to practice my English skills. Thank you for being so amazing!

Luis Knapik ,

Amazing

My name is Luis and I borrowed my boyfriend’s iphone just to write this review.

I have discovered this podcast during lockdown and binged all episodes at my office here in Brazil. It is very fun and the host always makes a summary of the background of the tragedy, which is very good and interesting, giving you the possibility to have a better understanding of the situation. Often I catch myself googling about a topic while listening to it, as does fact checker Chris.

The host is very fun and outgoing. They usually have a guest that brings insights, as one who one day will have Capitalism sent to the Alarmist Jail.

The Aftermath episodes usually bring a guest who is expert on the subject and helps understanding more about the impact of the tragedy, in ways that were sometimes not brought into consideration. Moreover, the hosts are open to change their decision if necessary.

I recommend this podcast 100%!!!
