    Ep 347: Sam Wineman

    Ep 347: Sam Wineman

Filmmaker Sam Wineman (DEATHCEMBER, THE QUIET ROOM, Attack Of The Queerwolf Podcast) shares his journey with Adam, Joe, and Arwen in this absolutely fantastic episode! From growing up feeling different and forming a cinematic kinship with the horror genre and its monsters… to recognizing that he was drowning his confusion in alcohol as a young teen and taking action to change the path he was heading down… to bravely coming out as queer to a family that wasn’t immediately ready to embrace his realization… to finding his calling in college telling stories and making short films… to the making of his documentary on queer cinema (in post-production now and due out on Shudder this summer)… Sam’s candid perspective on the genre makes for a fascinating and eye opening conversation. Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a patient stricken with grief and the guys get deeply personal about death in this truly important episode of The Movie Crypt.

    Ep 346: Rodman Flender

    Ep 346: Rodman Flender

Filmmaker Rodman Flender (IDLE HANDS, LEPRECHAUN 2, TV’s THE OFFICE) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to share his cinematic journey. From starting out as an actor… to always saying “yes” to new and sudden opportunities…  to finding himself all but running the day to day operations for Roger Corman’s company…  to the pros and cons of not being “pigeonholed” as an artist… to IDLE HANDS being targeted by politicians in the wake of the Columbine tragedy…  to the making of his latest film EAT BRAINS LOVE (“a road trip comedy with a side of cannibalism”)… Rodman’s path has been anything but predictable and this conversation is an absolute blast! Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a patient in need of cinematic closure, everyone’s sick, and all three guys gear up for Panic Fest in Kansas City this coming weekend!

    Ep 345: Kyra Gardner

    Ep 345: Kyra Gardner

Filmmaker Kyra Gardner may have only just graduated film school a few months ago but she’s already one of the best examples we know of an emerging young talent making huge strides in the world of cinema today! From trying to decide between a career as a veterinarian or an army nurse and instead choosing filmmaking as her calling… to observing her father at work on sets (Tony Gardner is an FX legend – check out our conversation with him in Ep 246)… to having her first short film selected for the 39th Cleveland International Film Festival at age 16 (the youngest participant ever!)… to having her short form documentary THE DOLLHOUSE acquired by Universal Studios for inclusion on the CULT OF CHUCKY home video (she was only 19!)... to winning a DGA Student Award at age 22 for her latest short film PHOEBE… at just 22 years old Kyra’s list of accomplishments is enough to motivate anyone looking to pick up a camera! Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” to a patient who is worried that his life may have passed him by as well as a filmmaker ready to secure distribution for his series while Joe stays in bed with the flu just like “Cameron” in FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF (“let my Cameron go…”) in this wicked inspiring episode.

    Ep 344: Richard Stanley

    Ep 344: Richard Stanley

He’s a mystery wrapped in an enigma and a living hero to every artist who’s ever been trampled over by the system. Filmmaker Richard Stanley (HARDWARE, DUST DEVIL, THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU) sits down with Adam Green, Joe Lynch, and Arwen for a long awaited and fascinating discussion about his career journey. From seeing the original ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU in 1977 and determinedly deciding that he would one day tell H.G. Wells’ fantastical story his own way... to making a name for himself with 1990’s low-budget, post apocalyptic thriller HARDWARE… to watching his follow up DUST DEVIL fall out of his hands due to the bankruptcy of the production company and creative tampering of the final cut of the film (Stanley would go on to finance a restored version from the original negative many years later)… to ultimately getting the chance he dreamed of and writing/directing 1996’s THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU – only to have the project become a legendary clusterfuck after creative disputes lead to him being fired just hours after the start of production (in order to understand the absolute nightmare Stanley endured you need to watch LOST SOUL - the 2014 documentary about the DR. MOREAU fiasco)… only to rise from the ashes over two decades later with this his new feature COLOR OUT OF SPACE… if Richard Stanley’s unbreakable determination doesn’t inspire you to stick to your guns than you need to turn your guns in immediately. Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” to a writer struggling to manage his expectations and Adam and Joe pray at the alter of their cinematic hero in this phenomenal conversation that starts off 2020 in spectacular fashion.

    Ep 343: 2019 Wrap Up

Adam, Joe, and Arwen bid farewell to 2019 with a look back at the highs and lows from this past year. From the most memorable MOVIE CRYPT conversations, their favorite movies and TV shows, and this year’s record breaking “Yorkiethon" … to the heartbreaks of loved ones lost, the career frustrations they’ve endured, and the guys’ extremely candid and personal resolutions for 2020… Adam and Joe hold nothing back as they purge their hearts of the “old” and make room for all the wonderful “new” that is to come.

    Ep 342: Brian Posehn

Comedian Brian Posehn (THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM, SEX DRIVE, THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM, HOLLISTON, THE BIG BANG THEORY) joined Adam and Joe as a surprise guest during the first night of “Yorkiethon 4.” In this extremely candid conversation the guys discuss Brian’s new book FOREVER NERDY, Brian’s guest star role on THE MADALORIAN, visiting Rick Baker’s house, dealing with fans, Halloween, and much more! Dr. Arwen was at home sleeping yet still managed to provide “Hollywood Therapy” for a patient with concerns over the content their child is consuming and Joe shares a crazy Nicholas Cage story in this episode that was recorded LIVE during THE MOVIE CRYPT’s record breaking 4thannual 48-hour marathon to benefit Save A Yorkie Rescue.
