In August of 1997, 12-year-old Georgia Leah Moses went missing in Santa Rosa, California. Nine days later, her body was discovered along the 101 Freeway in Petaluma, about 20 miles south of her last known whereabouts.

In spite of many leads and an eye witness description of the last person she was seen with, no one has been arrested or charged in her abduction, rape, and murder.

After 24 years with no movement in the case, Angel (Georgia's younger sister) has taken the investigation into her own hands. Since the case is still technically active, resources were limited and information was scarce.

So, in 2020, she started from scratch. Retracing every step and every avenue she could think of to gather information on her own. She began reaching out to friends, family, law enforcement, and the residents of Sonoma County to try and piece together the full picture of Georgia's tragic death.

In October of 2020 I joined Angel in her hunt for justice, hoping that my history in Sonoma County and my father's connection to the Sheriff's department might help us get some footing with those who have been holding on to her case all this time. But honestly, it was a long shot to begin with, because if next of kin can't get a straight answer, then how would I?

Although there are many hurdles facing us, we did get some answers and from some pretty unexpected places. However, with every question we checked off our list, more questions arose.

As the months pass and we dig deeper into what was really going on with Georgia in the last year of her life, a story filled with twists, turns and shocking revelations continues to unfold.

    NEW SHOW: No Activity

    NEW SHOW: No Activity

Less than two weeks to the premiere of “No Activity” a new true crime podcast with purpose.

Similarly to “They Called her Georgia Lee” I’ll be working with families in the pursuit of justice for cold cases that have sat idle for far too long.

The show will feature exclusive audio interviews with law enforcement, experts, advocates and of course, above everything else, families and friends of the victims… because who better to tell you about them than the people who knew them best?

Our first six part series tells the story of Tyra Maria Garcia, a 15 year old girl from Ventura, CA. In 1985, Tyra had everything to look forward to. She was starting a new job, she had lots of friends, she was seeing a new guy… All in all, she was on the come up.

Then on the night of Memorial Day celebrations, she told her sister and mother she was going to a friend's house late at night. In spite of a gut feeling that told her older sister Tanya not to let her go, they watched as she rounded the corner of their small apartment complex and disappeared into the night.

That was the last time anyone saw Tyra alive.

Ten days later she was found wrapped in a blanket, left in an orange grove over an hour away from her home. There was ample evidence at the scene, many of her close friends and family pointing to a likely suspect, plenty of people who saw Tyra that night, and even eye witnesses at two different locations who saw her in the company of two older guys… and yet, here we are 37 years later - almost to the day - still wondering - what happened to Tyra Garcia?

    Someone knows something.

The key to Tyra’s case is out there and we’re hoping that one of you knows who has it. Or at least you know where the pressure needs to be pushed to get it.

You can find the premiere episode of No Activity on Thursday, August 11th wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts.

    Justice Has No Expiration Date

    Justice Has No Expiration Date

Today, for our last scheduled episode, Angel and I talk about what this experience has been like and what is next for Georgia’s case, Angel and myself. We also sit down with Ashlee Wilson Fujawa from Uncovered - a software platform that combines data, analytics, and the wisdom of the community to help solve the cold cases of murdered or missing people.

Cameo by my 5 month old son for whom I could not find a sitter while I recorded. So enjoy the burping, occasional coo, and of course the faint sounds of wailing as he so desperately tries to avoid napping. Sorry about that.

Thank you to Ashlee for sharing your story with us and thank you, listeners, for being a part of Georgia’s community. We’re not done, we have a long way to go, but without you, we’d be nowhere.

The More We Look Into It...

The More We Look Into It...

Potential evidence lost. More people coming forward that were never interviewed before. Crime scene evaluation.

We have so many clues, but what do they say?

Going back over everything, Angel and I realized that we needed a trained eye to help us decipher some of these puzzle pieces. We reached out to a 30-year-violent-crimes veteran who sat down with us to do just that.

Plus, we spoke with Mindy Luby and Celeste Winders from Strategic Education Advocacy to help us get a better understanding of what was happening with Georgia in her last months of school…

You can see the work that Celeste and Mindy do at their website: http://strategiceducationadvocacy.com
