Like so many aspects of Black life, Black hair has been stigmatized for centuries, but with the natural hair movement picking up speed the discrimination and stereotypes connected to Black hair are slowly, but surely, starting to be recognized and shifted.

When Judy Basmaji graduated from university, she was set on building a career in journalism. She moved out to Toronto and enrolled in a broadcast journalism certificate program at Seneca College. A few months later though, she was working a completely unrelated job that inspired her to pursue a career in mental health. As she reflects back, Judy realizes that finding the right career for you is not a straightforward path, especially with growing financial pressures young people face.

The fashion industry wreaks havoc on our environment, and even though people are trying to consume more sustainably, their profits continue to rise. Here, Eloïse Slater takes a dive into fast fashion and sustainability, to see whether the two can ever exist together. Spoiler alert: they can’t.

There is a path that everyone walks on in life and we often think of it as being fresh, new, assuming that we are the first ones to venture on its track. Sometimes, other people join you and either help enrich it or make it feel more lonesome, but the mistake we make is thinking that there was no person who has walked down it before. We never dare to venture into the past, and instead look ahead at the next big thing coming up, without having reflected on how you got there in the first place.

Buses arriving late, crowded platforms, and having to wait for an extra train before riding the subway. These irritants may sound distant in a social-distancing world, but it wasn’t long ago when it felt like someone was complaining about public transit every other day. But is, or was, transit really that bad?
