TP’s Music Talk Episode #20 The Voice Of Cinema (Part 2) (feat. John Cassler)

TP’s Music Talk Episode #20 The Voice Of Cinema (Part 2) (feat. John Cassler)

In Part 1, our frequent show guest, John Cassler, gave us a crash course on the history of cinema and film score music, as well as going over some common music terms associated with composers and film scores.
For Part 2, we will be talking about and highlighting three of the six most influential film score composers (in our opinion) of all time. We will talk about the master of leitmotifs, John Williams, the experimental and profound style of, Hans Zimmer, and the epic and episodic musical storytelling that is created by, Howard Shore. All of these composers are masters of their craft and are responsible for some of the most iconic and inspiring moments in music and cinema in the past century. We will be learning about their lives and talking about some of the fantastic films that they have been a part of creating music for.
We will also be talking about the difference between film score music, and soundtrack music, since we failed to explain that in Part 1.. (Sorry).. And just in case you were worried, we will also be making a lot of bad jokes and getting off on random absurd tangents again, just like always. :)
John Cassler, (Who you may know from our 11th episode on the history of music videos..) is a fantastic and knowledgeable photographer/videographer. He came fully prepared and educated on the history of cinema and the big film score composers that we will be talking about throughout these episode segments. We were honored to have him back on our show, and are extremely grateful for him giving us so much of his time. Happy belated birthday John and thank you for being so patient with us while we were working to get this episode released.

TP’s Music Talk Episode #20 The Voice Of Cinema (Part 1) (feat. John Cassler)

TP’s Music Talk Episode #20 The Voice Of Cinema (Part 1) (feat. John Cassler)

When people who are avid fans talk about their favorite musicians or artists, a lot of times they can tell you everything about them.. Where they were born, what their life was like growing up, what inspired them to start creating music. That's what being a super fan is all about! But when we think of musicians, a lot of times we only think about bands that tour the world and are mainly listened to on Spotify or Apple Music.. We don't often think about film score composers..
Many people know of some of the big film score composers like, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, etc. But have you ever thought about what their lives were like, and what inspired them to create the music they do? If asked, would you be able to tell someone their back story? Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a film score composer? These are some of the questions we're going to attempt to answer on this episode of our show!
This episode we are joined by our good friend and returning show guest, John Cassler. John, (Who you may know from our 11th episode on the history of music videos..) is a fantastic and knowledgeable photographer/videographer. He came fully prepared and educated on the history of cinema and the 6 big film score composers. We were honored to have him back on our show, and are extremely grateful for him giving us so much of his time.
On the first segment of episode #20, John will be giving us a crash course on the history of cinema, and film score music, as well as going over some music terms.. And there might just be some unexpected tangents, bad humor, and Jurassic Park references provided by Nik and Ryan in addition as well. ;) Thanks for listening and we hope you enjoy.

TP’s Music Talk Episode #19 Joey Cook (Part 3)

TP’s Music Talk Episode #19 Joey Cook (Part 3)

It's a bittersweet moment posting the final segment of our artist spotlight with Joey Cook. It was truly such a fun experience and amazing opportunity to get to talk to her. We want to give yet another huge thanks to her, Boleyn Records, Artist JJ Braves, Kyi (Head of A&R and Marketing at Boleyn Records), and everyone else involved with making this episode happen. We hope we get to work with them again at some point in the future. We also wanted to thank our listeners. We know we say this a lot but without you, the person reading this right now, we would not be able to keep this podcast that we love going. Thanks to all of our amazing supporters that keep giving us the motivation to keep moving forward and creating things that we're passionate about.

In this episode we got to talk to Joey about her music video for her single "End of the World" that dropped on August 11th, 2022.. And when we tell you that it is her music video, we really do mean HER music video. We learned that Joey imagined, designed, created, recorded, and edited literally everything that you see and hear in her music video for End of the World. She truly did put her full self into the making of the video. But don't take our word for it, listen and hear about it for yourself! And we hope that you will go watch her music video as well as we really do think it is something with depth that's charming and unique!

We also talked to Joey about future projects and ideas that she's working on, as well as what she hopes to accomplish not only with her music but in other areas of her life and with her fans. We also touch on things like mental health, Joey's family, Joey's trajectory and how we all inevitably affect people, and even about strapping GoPros to peoples heads. It's another fully packed episode segment and is a great wrap up to another incredible artist spotlight. We hope you enjoy it. We will leave links to some of what we talked about on the show below. :)
