We were all excited in January 2020 with the new year for the changes the year would bring—but we didn’t anticipate these types of changes. Yet in a way, our goals were still met: being better, working better, doing better and loving better.

This episode will entirely consist of a new weekly segment called Bingo Sports, in which we discuss the top stories in sports, with a particular focus on sports in the city of Houston, Texas.

This episode we’re talking the big time contract extension for the quarterback Deshaun Watson and the outlook for the Houston Texans season starting next week—as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the Houston Rockets, currently playing in the 2nd round of the NBA Playoffs against the (seemingly?) league favorite, the Los Angeles Lakers.

We’re discussing the Democratic vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris—why Harris was chosen, some good (and questionable?) basics about her record and what voters should do to prepare for the 2020 election.

After playing catch up, we discuss a wide array of topics, including (but not limited to):

– COVID-19 and its current (and potentially lasting) effects
– fear-mongering from the news media cycle
– turnout at protests for George Floyd and Breonna Taylor
– the two-party system in the U.S. election cycle, and
– rapper Kanye West as a presidential candidate

From a small online blog to now a global platform, Brown Girl Magazine (BGM) prides itself on publishing content that “uplifts, creates deeper understanding and connection and cultivates rich dialogue,” where no subject is off limits.
