Work Hard, Stay Humble and Be Honest with John Conlon of Phoenix Footwear After The Checks Are Signed

    • Empreendedorismo

Welcome to the NEW After the Checks are Signed Podcast! Where entrepreneurs and other high performers talk about their success strategies after they sign the checks, close the books and lock the doors on their own businesses! Here we discuss the money, investing and business stories and practices of accomplished local entrepreneurs and business people. During each episode we discuss topics such as personal finance, investing, economics, entrepreneurship, real estate and personal development.
Today I am joined by a longtime customer and friend, John Conlon, from Phoenix Footwear (https://www.phoenixfootwear.com/). We explore his 30 year career in retail and wholesale men's fashion, jewelery and footwear. Interestingly, his department is in the "brown box" segment which is men's dress and formal shoes. John spoke eloquently about the value in creating and growing relationships with clients which have stood the test of time. He is currently in charge of the entire east coast of the United States in his current role at Phoenix Footwear.
We discuss how COVID altered his sales approach and, more importantly, his gratitude for what he has in his life. John describes how navigating the pandemic has proven to be a huge catalyst for his current success in business and personal life. He explains that picking life and business partners are crucial and he has done both successfully. His motto is, Work Hard, Stay Humble and Be Honest - as the title of this episode states.
John said that The Phoenix Seminars (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwV7kODRvb0WNPjH_rJ7bYsd4R1e5cUcK) by Brian Tracey were instrumental in the early years of learning sales skills and interpersonal communication. This has been something that he has shared with many others and they've experienced similar outcomes.
There is so much great discussion in this episode and I hope you enjoy meeting this week's guest! Many thanks to John Conlon for making the time to host me at his home and the fantastic conversation. I am grateful to be able to meet and learn from so many amazing guests on After the Checks are Signed.
