Love & Basketball - Chris Harper
We speak with former NBA draftee, European professional player and grassroots activist Chris Harper; we discuss his early life in California with his family, how race and gang culture were an everyday part of his life & the similarities with the gang problem in Cardiff. How basketball helped him travel the world, gave him discipline and a life, which led to him eventually being brought to Cardiff where he was involved in professional teams (even setting up his own) and the golden era of British basketball as well as going to some of the most deprived areas of Cardiff and South Wales to bring basketball to young people. We try to understand why his three decades of work has not been recognised or celebrated. Why he stayed in Wales and what his plans for the future are.
We also have the debate to end all debates - who is the GOAT: Jordan or LeBron and why. -
General Secretary of the TUC Trade Union - Wales - Shavanah Taj
In this episode we talk about the topics of the day & how Shavanah is the first BAME person to hold a General Secretary position in the TUC while also being the first Muslim as well as being a woman in a traditionally male dominated role. We discuss the modern workplace, how A.I. (artificial intelligence) is being used to perpetuate racism and the issues of being politically neutral in a highly politicised environment.
