Only the Lamb of God, identified as Jesus Christ, is deemed worthy to open the seals and reveal the contents of the scroll.
Who is John of Patmos?John of Patmos, also known as John the Revelator, John the Divine, or John the Theologian, is traditionally identified as the author of the Book of Revelation, the final book of the New Testament. The name "John of Patmos" refers to his exile on the island of Patmos, where he is believed to have received the visions that form the content of Revelation.Historically, John of Patmos has been identified with John the Apostle, one of Jesus’ original twelve disciples. This identification is supported by early Christian writers such as Justin Martyr and Irenaeus.Patmos is a small, rocky island in the Aegean Sea, part of modern-day Greece where John is thought to have written Revelation during the reign of the Roman Emperor Domitian (AD 81-96),which was a period of significant persecution of Christians.According to the text of Revelation, John was exiled to Patmos "because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus" (Revelation 1:9).
