    Ep. 145 – Kelly Baskin

Get ready for the Gliding Champion of Mondstadt!

There are many different paths to voice acting. For Kelly Baskin, that path was....throat scars! But what started as a potential career on Broadway has become one tucked away in vocal booths and anime conventions. Which is good, because Broadway conventions sound expensive.

Kelly talks with Evan about her roles in Genshin Impact and Miraculous as well as the healing power of yoga, the Chicago VO scene, and why Nashville is a loser town for losers. Ok she's too nice to say that last one, but you can tell from her tone...

    Ep. 144 – Sean Chiplock

    Ep. 144 – Sean Chiplock

Brought to you eventually by ADD!

Sean Chiplock is a proud member of what we call the Toonami Generation, and he took his upbringing in the Upper Midwest and late nights aboard the Absolution into a life of anime screaming, convention screaming, and just general loudness.

Sean talks with Evan about his roles in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Re:Zero/Isekai Quartet and Genshin Impact, what the impact of Genshin has been like (see what I did there?) and why the 7100th boss battle is often the hardest.

PS there's a quick message about Carey Means, who due to technical difficulties on our part was not able to be included in this show. We'll get him back on shortly, we promise. In the mean time you can help him out at the link above.

Ep. 143 – Jordan Hunter Jones

Ep. 143 – Jordan Hunter Jones

The amount of spellings we found for "coo-coo" would drive you, well, you know....

Jordan Hunter Jones flipped the script almost literally when he switched from ad man to man from the ads (aka business guy to talking guy) and has since been all over the world of commercials, video games and more. He is not the kind of person to keep his opinions to himself, whether they be about Cocoa Puffs, voice coaching or why starting your radio career in early September 2001 wasn't the easy-going experience one might expect.

Jordan shares with Evan some great audition stories, a solid answer to Iona Morris's question from last episode and a surprisingly thorough batch of questions for the next guest. He also proves once again that the key to success in anything Texas-related is barbecue. It's just science.

    Ep. 142 – Iona Morris

    Ep. 142 – Iona Morris

There should be a name for having a career so vast you can't remember a goodly chunk of the roles.

Iona Morris's actor father tried to dissuade her from a life of acting, but it clearly was not a lesson she listened to. Starting out in VO at a young age, Iona went on to be one of the earliest voices in anime's debut in America, starring in roles in Robotech, Lupin The 3rd and Barefoot Gen in the early 1980s. But it was as Storm in the original X-Men Animated Series that lodged her firmly in the world of pop culture geekdom, and later roles in animation and video games would see her continue to work to this day.

Iona talks with Evan about the early days in "Japanimation", being a black woman in VO over the course of nearly 50 years, and why direction and one-person plays are so appealing to her now. She also answers a question from David Bateson and explains how her unique geekiness plays into her voice career.

    Ep. 141 – David Bateson (Part 2)

Something something man in a river hey something.

It's rare to talk to someone who birthed a meme, but David Bateson is a pretty rare individual. In this second part of his chat with Evan, David describes his time working with Lego and how the Danes are just too cool, man. He also reveals his place in Super Mario Brothers history, his work with Fantasymphony II and the answer to the question posed by previous guest Siho Ellsmore about his non-VO aspirations.

If you missed Part 1, check it out now to hear David talk about Hitman, South Africa and sleeping under a bridge.

    Ep. 140 – David Bateson (Part 1)

    Ep. 140 – David Bateson (Part 1)

The name 'David Bateson' is just a whisper on the lips of the dead.

Actually, for legal reasons we can't say that any dead person has ever whispered David's name, but it sounds cool, doesn't it? The star of the Hitman series sits down with Evan to talk about Agent 47 and the tangled path that led David to playing the follically-challenged assassin. He also talks about his early career in South Africa, what it's like to voice a character over multiple decades, and how Agent 47 almost ended up Jamaican.

David gave us so much great stuff that we had to break up this interview into 2 parts, the second part coming out next week. Also we'll have more outtakes on our Patreon for all backers.
