Back in 2012, Superstorm Sandy brought awareness to the importance of lifting houses out of the floodplain. If you have a house near the beach, this may be something to consider.
How house lifting works:
We get a crane
We put iron bars under the house
We cut the house off from the foundation
We hoist the house up with the crane
We put cribbing underneath the house
We sit the house on the cribbing
We build the new, elevated foundation around the cribbing
We lift the house up again
We set the house down onto the new foundation
It’s a complex and fascinating process!
