COUNTRY ON KEPPEL - GREAT KEPPEL ISLAND HIDEAWAY

Welcome to the new podcast series, YOUR GREAT GETAWAY - sharing Queensland's must see destinations, events and attractions. One of the many must see destinations you may want to put on the bucket list is Great Keppel Island. The island lies 15kms east of Yeppoon and is part of the Capricorn Coast. The island is the largest of the eighteen islands in the Keppel Group. Accessible by boat, the trip to Great Keppel is roughly 30 minutes from the mainland with ferry services leaving Rosslyn Bay, Yeppoon daily. Located on one of the western points of the island is Great Keppel Island Hideaway - a back to basics, barefoot experience, offering an affordable Southern Great Barrier Reef holiday for everyone. Once a year Great Keppel Island Hideaway also hosts Country on Keppel - a country music lovers delight! One of the few festivals to go ahead this year, Country on Keppel 2020 was recently held on the 13th to 15th of November, with acts including Matt Cornell, James Blundell, Jade Holland and Caitlyn Shadbolt - just to name a few.  During the festivities, YOUR GREAT GETAWAY took the chance to catch up with one of the main festival organisers, Peter Blundell to learn more about the festival and why Great Keppel Island could be considered one of Central Queensland's best kept secrets.
