    In this episode of The Nature of Story podcast, Michael Neelsen speaks with Dr. Henry Jenkins, author of "Convergence Culture" and "By Any Media Necessary".

    DR. HENRY JENKINS is the Provost Professor of Communication, Journalism, Cinematic Arts and Education at the University of Southern California. He arrived at USC in Fall 2009 after spending more than a decade as the Director of the MIT Comparative Media Studies Program and the Peter de Florez Professor of Humanities. He is the author and/or editor of seventeen books on various aspects of media and popular culture.

    Jenkins is the principal investigator for The Civic Imagination Project, funded by the MacArthur Foundation, to explore ways to inspire creative collaborations within communities as they work together to identify shared values and visions for the future.

    In this episode of The Nature of Story podcast, Michael Neelsen speaks with Lucas C. Parra, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, City College of New York, CUNY.

    LUCAS C. PARRA is Herbert Kayser Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in 1996 with research in the area of machine learning under the guidance of Gustavo Deco. Prior to joining CCNY he worked on medical imaging at Siemens Corporate Research (1995-1997) and acoustic signal processing at Sarnoff Corporation (1997-2003).

    Lucas' current work revolves around "reading and writing the brain: electric stimulation, brain signals, machine learning." He studies the effects of external stimuli such as movies, TV shows and video games on the brain.
