13: Manager Magic to accelerate performance (Part 1‪)‬ Go To Grow - with Melissa MacGowan

    • Self-Improvement

Today I ponder.......

Recall your best manager and the impact? Recall your worst manager and the impact? Have no doubt about impact of managers on people and performance outcomes. If you lead or run a business and you are not taking considered action here, you are leaving performance on the table.

I know it to be true from personal experience, research and through many years in HR and business leadership. Yet it is tempting to promote people who lack core capabilities and are not provided with training/development support at a critical career stage. We lean into the technical skills or tolerate key capability gaps and the resulting consequences (think disengagement, turnover, confusion, lack of development). Accepting mediocrity is much easier than investing in clarity of expectations and aligned leadership development.
