How and why did Afrobeat overtake Dancehall in popularity.
Afrobeats has grown in popularity to far bypass genres like Dancehall, Soca, and some might argue that it has even surpassed Hip Hop in terms of popularity. Some say that Afrobeat is a fusion of other genres like Dancehall and Hip Hop, but Vx from the 18 Karat Reggae team begs to differ. She believes that Afrobeat was always there, and it is Hip Hop and Dancehall that was influenced Afrobeat. In other word, Afrobeat is like the alpha and the omega of music, it was always there, and it will always be there; before it, there was none and after it, there will be no more. Listen to today's episode of 18 Karat Reggae to hear Vx's reasoning.
Customer Reviews
Good
I wouldve given this 5 stars if, in the 90s dancehall, there wasn't so many sound effects. The mix is wicked; it's exactly what I was looking for, but why is there a sound effect every 5 seconds? Completely ruins the sound of good music.
Respect
Keep the music comin... Nothin but sweet vibes... respect one love
Not clean lyrics
Please don't put clean and the music is not. All the music I listened too, should have warning of explicit lyrics. Mixing is good, however can not listen to this stuff with my family
