One of the podcasts I just can't get enough of

I simply adore listening to these beautiful humans. If you like gaming or any kind of entertainment you will get 4 different points of views from 4 different prospectives all done among friends with love and humor even if sometimes they don't agree with one another. Love their humor, love the pearl of wisdom that they drop and the variety of topics that they touch that somehow all connect to the gaming industry, whether by drawing similarities or differences. It's very refreshing.

Review of Wishlist Tron: Identity from Bithell Games and Three Men Talking About Nothing

Hello! This is my Podcast about Reviews about Podcasts! Today I listened to two episodes of a Podcast branded “Play, Watch, Listen.” There was one girl who spoke very fast while doing her intro, Alanah I think, Austin and Milke. This first podcast was titled “Wishlist Tron: Identity from Bithell Games.” The Podcast starts off with almost a pre-chat before everyone hops in. Mike was talking about how he was working for Walt Disney and how he was able to be a part of Tron: Identity.

He spoke about how he was afraid to leak the game and how the company he worked for had over 500 people involved. He compared the game he was working on to Undertale which I am a huge fan of.

They were saying they are fans of games that let you choose your own path and those choices, however minute, affect the things around you and even the smallest thing at the beginning can affect the way the game is at the end. They also spoke about a New Animal crossing game that is done by Disney which I am interested in and will look into.

Another thing they spoke about was “pitch farming” which I will be on the lookout for when I am looking for employment. I don’t want my work to be for free.

I do agree that almost every idea is out there already, you just need to do it first. They also spoke about AI art and if that can be considered “real” art. Also how other art that the AI pulls from can be credited. I agree with this. I know it is a program with code and not real intelligence. As they said in the Podcast “it doesn’t know what a cat is.” One of the last things they spoke about was how every country has a royalty program and those developed to make sure that artists are credited in some way.

This Podcast was overall informative, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to know about gaming news and other ethics questions revolving around technology.

The second episode of Play, Watch, Listen I listened to was titled “Three Men Talking About Nothing.”

Contrary to their most recent episode, this time they really did talk about nothing. This time we swapped out Alanah for Troy, and there was Mike and Austin. The subjects were all over the place, so it was hard to follow. I lost track a lot. The first episode was far better because they talked about video games, but in this one, the first half was more about their personal lives and to me, it was a little boring. They were mostly talking about their past career experiences. They didn’t really start talking about video games until the second half of the episode.

They were talking about VR games. They were asking questions to each other like “are games art?” which personally I think they are.

Some of the subjects they were discussing in this episode I completely wasn’t interested in – especially when they started talking about drugs and how they wanted to try some “legally” with each other. That subject was hard for me to listen to.

They were talking about how we can be arrogant as humans. There are things yet to discover that we don’t know are even there to be discovered. I thought that was an interesting concept. I personally think about these things too but at the same time, I know that all good things do come to an end. I thought it was so beautiful when they mentioned a quote about the atoms in your hands being from different stars... all these pieces of things over time made us.

Alanah Pearce is a game writer, Troy Baker, a voice actor, Mike Bithell is a game director and Austin Wintory is a game composer. Their first podcast for Play, Watch, Listen aired Dec 20th, 2019 and they air every week.

My final rating for this podcast would be 3/5 stars. The reason I gave it that score is because of the inconsistency in the themes of the episodes. In one episode they kept the theme and spoke about gaming whereas in another episode it was more personal. I think they should include more of both in all their episodes, that way a newer viewer like myself won't get bored with some subjects.

My name is Tia, you can also find me at Twitch.tv/screenpeeks or on Twitter as @Screen_Peeks.

That’s all for today. Thank you for listening! I hope you have a lovely day!
