Intimacy Coordinator? What's that?
Honestly, before watching Normal People and the hit Netflix series, Bridgerton... I had no idea what an intimacy coordinator was.
Lucky for you, I interviewed an expert in the field. I am joined by none other than Lizzy Talbot! She is the founder and Director of Intimacy for Stage and Screen - one of the first companies in the UK advocating for safe intimacy for the stage and screen. She has worked internationally across the UK, EU and the USA. Lizzy is one of the lead instructors in Intimacy Coordination and works professionally as an Intimacy Coordinator across various networks including HBO, Netflix, and Starz.
Her latest project, Bridgerton, has taken the world by storm. 82 MILLION households have watched the series and it's projected to become one of the most-watched Netflix original series. That’s crazy! Bridgerton’s highly talked about sex scenes have been on everyone’s mind, but the relatively new role of intimacy coordinator is still largely unknown outside of the industry.
I absolutely love and binged the series within a few days. The acting, the decor, and the concept of the show were so good. The intimate scenes and chemistry between the main actors were absolutely beautiful! In this episode, we talk about the history of intimacy coordination, her transition from fight coordination to intimacy, the rules & regulations surrounding intimacy coordination, her experience working on Bridgerton, misconceptions of her industry and where she hopes to see intimacy coordination in the future. Lizzy is so lovely! I really enjoyed this one.
