77. The Anxiety-Autism Connection: How to Manage Both? Part 2 Overpowering Emotions Podcast: Helping Children and Teens Manage Big Feels

    • Mental Health

Today I jump into Part 2 on the anxiety-autism connection and how to manage both.

Last week I discussed the link between autism and anxiety and important considerations when supporting autistic children and teens. This week I continue the conversation by discussing the variables that maintain anxiety and how to best manage anxiety.

The link between anxiety and autism highlights the importance of addressing the unique considerations of anxiety in our autistic children and teens. Fortunately, there are many strategies that can help them manage their anxiety while also improving socialization, mental health, academic performance, independence, and quality of life.

Whatever we do to support these children and teens, it is important to maintain empathy, understanding, and a commitment to evidence-based practices. In doing so, we can help our autistic children and teens to achieve their full potential and to live fulfilling lives.
