How to live a life of Worship

How to live a life of Worship

    Honor the Place

That first covenant between God and Israel had regulations for worship and a place of worship here on earth. There were two rooms in that Tabernacle. In the first room were a lampstand, a table, and sacred loaves of bread on the table. This room was called the Holy Place. Then there was a curtain, and behind the curtain was the second room called the Most Holy Place.  Hebrews 9:1-3 NLT

However, the Most High doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. As the prophet says, Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? asks the LORD. Could you build me such a resting place? Acts 7:48-49 NLT

And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. Hebrews 10:19-22 NLT

Don’t let God’s accessibly minimize the priority you put on the sacred place we have with Him.

    2) Choose the right Posture

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker. Psalm 95:6 NLT

A graced combination of humility and honor is the appropriate way to worship our Father God.

    3) Embrace Expression

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Psalm 40:3 ESV

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! - Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever. Psalms 100:1-2 & 4-5

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. Ephesians 5:18-19 NLT

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1 ESV

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.” Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,
“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.” Revelation 4:8-11 NLT

May we live in such a way that every word, action and attitude are an act of worship to our God.

    4) Always - Our ancestors carried the Tabernacle with them through the wilderness. Acts 7:44 NLT

Worship is a weapon the enemy can’t overcome!

    5) With your Whole Heart

I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart. Psalm 9:1 NKJV

We don’t worship God because He needs our worship, but because He is worthy of our worship.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Psalm 150:6 ESV

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy. Psalms 103:1-3 ESV

    How to Share the Gospel

    How to Share the Gospel

We’re so glad you are here! Thanks for checking out Sunday's message!

    -- SUNDAY'S NOTES --
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:37 ESV

The biblical approach to having plenty, is to intentionally share what you have.

    Recognize the Call

Not called did you say? Not heard the call, I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible and hear him bid you go… William Booth

All the Kings kids are called to introduce people to Jesus and the life we’ve found in Him.

Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:15-23 ESV

    Ready to Share.

Worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.1 Peter 3:15 NLT

You can’t know Jesus in the way you’re meant to know Him and not make Him known!

    Reflect the Gospel

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. John 1:6-8 ESV

Don’t shine a light on others, but for others.

    Use your words

If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, indeed I cannot. Jeremiah 20:9 ESV

    iPray - iSee - iConnect - iSay

When I came to you, brothers, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 ESV

Nothing is more meaningful than sharing how your relation with Jesus has impacted your life.

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes, to the Jew and also the Gentile Romans 1:16 NLT

    5) Together

Any church that isn’t seriously involved in helping fulfill the great commission has forfeited its biblical right to exist. - Oswald J. Smith

You are the light of the world, like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. Mathew 5:14 NLT

We shine more brightly when we shine together.

The great commission is virtually impossible without partnership.

For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. Luke 19:10 NLT

    How to be Family

    How to be Family

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. 1 John 3:1 ESV

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. Ephesians 2:19-22 ESV

    How to be Family

    1) Calling

A sense of calling is critical to contentment in community.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3 ESV

    2) Commitment

No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62 NLT

Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. James 5:12 ESV

    3) Patience

With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2 ESV

Proud people are rarely ever patient. - Humility creates a patient place in your heart for others.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12 ESV

Self control is a patient response to disappointment and frustration.

    4) Grace

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8 ESV

Grace is a gift that must be shown to be known.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8-9 ESV

    5) Compassion

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT

Love without compassion isn’t the love God gave or the love God gifted us to give.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:12-14 ESV

    Experience life in Christ

    Experience life in Christ

Jesus tomb time was a setup for the greatest victory in History.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10 NLT

The central reason Jesus came was to restore life and relationship.

    Dying to Self

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Galatians 5:24 NLT

Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane. Matthew 26:36 NLT

The curse from the garden of Eden was broken in the garden of Gethsemane.

“Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Mark 14:36 NLT

The difficulty of the cross lost to the undefeated love of our surrendered Savior in Gethsemane.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 ESV

    Being Devoted

Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. Mark 16:1-2 NLT

Choosing faithfulness even when your faith is struggling will set you up to see a miracle.

On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?”  Mark 16:3 NLT

But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. Mark 16:4 NLT

Jesus will handle the heavy lifting if you’ll devote yourself to Him.

The power is not found in our devotion as much as in the one to whom we are devoted.

    Trust in Jesus

True life is only found in Jesus.

When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said. Then he walked over to the coffin and touched it, and the bearers stopped. “Young man,” he said, “I tell you, get up.” Then the dead boy sat up and began to talk! And Jesus gave him back to his mother. Luke 7:11-15 NLT

If the unwanted bearers of brokenness are carrying you to a godless grave, trust in Jesus.

Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. Matthew 28:2-6 NLT

The impacts of this fallen world are real, but never to much for the love and life of our risen Savior.

    Live Godly Relationships

    Live Godly Relationships

Broken relationships mark the lives of the lost and unfortunately sometimes the found.

Our connections and interactions with others should represent the way God relates to us.

Make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-8 NLT

You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? 1 Corinthians 3:3 NIV

    1) Choose the right Order

Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.  A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-38 NLT

We are incapable of being Godly in our relationships unless God is first in our lives.

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4 ESV

    2) Choose the right Time - Live in the present and for the future, not the past.

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV

Don’t overcompensate for something missing in your history of relationship and mess up what God is doing now.

Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. Ecclesiastes 7:10 ESV

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT

One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14 ESV

    3) Choose the right Contents - Godly relating is ultimately a matter of the heart.

A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. Luke 6:45 NLT

The best way to take care of your heart is to hand your heart to Him!

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:19-25 NLT

The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. Psalm 84:11 NLT

Healthy, Godly, relationships are a treasure and should be treated with gratitude and grace.

    Live Free

    Live Free

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lordʼs favor. Luke 4:18-21 ESV

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10 ESV

Freedom is an unattainable myth without the Messiah

If the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John 8:36 NLT

    1) Choose Freedom  - For you were called to freedom, brothers… Galatians 5:13 ESV

    Removed verse

If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32 ESV

New Slide - Choosing God’s word and will is the only path to a life of freedom and restoration.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 ESV

    2) Walk with the Liberator

We are not cable of overcoming the enemy on our own!

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV

David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today the LORD will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. I Samuel 17:45-46 NLT

Moved - You are more likely to move a locomotive with a moped motor than to live in freedom without Jesus!

I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 ESV

    3) Guard your Heart

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. Galatians 5:17 NLT

A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. Proverbs 25:28 ESV

Moved next two slides from first point - It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you donʼt use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Galatians 5:13 MSG

He who avoids the slippery slope is less likely to fall into a pit.

Sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. Genesis 4:7 NIV

Donʼt let what you access give the enemy access to your soul.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 NLT

Guard your heart and God will guide your heart to freedom.

    4) Follow the peace of God

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. Colossians 3:15 ESV

Remove Slide - Holy Spirit uses peace as an umpire for the soul.

Discernment isn’t just knowing the difference between right and wrong, it is knowing the difference between right and almost right. - Charles Spurgeon

Let the peace of God guide your choosing and you will find yourself living in freedom.

    5) Live for God and Others

Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-38 NLT

Self-consumed people will always be bound.

Jesus will rewrite your story if you will follow Him to freedom!

Look, said Naomi, “your sister in law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.” But Ruth replied, “Donʼt urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Ruth 1:15-16 ESV

Remove - You’re future and freedom are not defined or determined by your hurt or history…

Remove - By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by comin
