Honeymoon phase over

It’s a decent podcast. It is made less by Marco who doesn’t know when to stop re-making a point in spite of not being challenged. The show would be 15-30 mins shorter if they could rein him in. And, (and this is just a personal irksome thing) I have cone to really dislike Casey’s way of emphasizing words here and there like it matters. If you go to his web site he even uses italics to add the emphasis he uses when talking to his text. It’s really grating and unnecessary. Thank goodness you can get your Siracusa fix elsewhere.

Excellent Apple focused tech show.

An absolute must for any Apple geek. I love the show and the hosts seem like good guys. Bonus mini car podcast at the end (or accidental tech podcast at the beginning?).

Generally interesting but...

I’m leaving this review after a year of listening to current as well as back catalogue episodes.

This show is mostly good. The three hosts do a great job of mixing candid conversation with topical discussion points. They usually have at least one topic that’s fairly interesting to me and I’ve picked up a good mix of current Apple news alongside the developers perspective which is unique in our current environment of reviews focused only on end-user experiences. Audio is always great and shows are relatively consistent in their release.

Here’s the one issue that stood in the way of a 4-star rating. They rant on and on forever. Part of this shows appeal is the fact that they don’t continuously talk over each other like some other popular tech news shows do. While I appreciate this quite a bit, it also means that some “monologues” go on far longer than they should. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten so annoyed with the same point being beaten to death for so long that I’ve just turned the episode off. It shouldn’t take 10 minutes to talk about a point that can be accomplished in 1 minute or a position that was taken being defended repeatedly even though nobody challenged it to being with.

Perhaps it’s just my own issue. It’s still an ok show and I like turning it on for road trips so I can only half pay attention. Perhaps you will too?
