Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

    Flightless Bird: Bubba Gumps

In this week’s Flightless Bird, David Farrier goes to eat at iconic American restaurant chain the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Back in 1994, Forest Gump was box office gold - the highest grossing film in America that year. Forrest Gump also did something not many films have ever done - something truly magical - it leapt out into real life. Because on any day of the week in America, you can stroll directly into a restaurant that wouldn't exist without Forrest Gump: The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. To learn about all things Gump, Farrier talks with David Chen from decodingeverything.com who breaks down the significance of the film. He then takes producer Rob to dine in style at Bubba Gumps, before talking to the Vice President & COO of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Jenny Scharbrough. That's right, Jenny!

+ Dax + David + Rob - Monica

Love Armchair Anonymous and Armchair Expert and Dax on both of them.

Love Flightless Bird and David so much, as well as Rob on it.

Despite giving her a chance across all of these podcasts and her own, I can’t get on board for Monica. This is nothing about her being a woman or person of colour, this is about her revealed and explicit personality and beliefs and comments. I wish I could just let this opinion go and enjoy the rest of the content, but the fact that she is so ingrained in every podcast, she never stops being insufferable, and that my feed is unwantedly filled with a Synced episode every week, making me feel like the U2 album experience is insufferably recurrent, make listening to this whole podcast a bit more sour.

Wish you could just capitalize on the good content and consider letting Monica try to start her own podcast and see how successful that is. Also there are so, so many more woman, people of colour, and the intersection of them that you could have contribute to hosting this podcast successfully.

Synced: Ross’s Hot Dogs - Liz is Nuts

This is my first review of any podcast, so please know that this means something.

I enjoy Armchair Expert, Flightless Bird, and even listened to Monica’s last show before Synced - but having accidentally listened to just part of the episode mentioned in the title and Liz’s opinion on men and the rates of sexual assault towards men… at least thank goodness for Monica stepping in and questioning it but good god I hope that’s fact checked.

1 in 4 men do not assault women, and that fact should have been checked when the comment was made. Such a disservice towards men. I want to be clear in saying that sexual assault towards women from men is an issue, but Liz was spewing absolute bogus stats.
