Amazing stuff
Just wanted to pop up back in here again to say how thankful and appreciative I am of you guys for not only mentioning the farmers’ protest on your podcast but also showing your support for them. Not even Indian podcasters or celebs have done that, which is a real shame. Truly won over my heart even more! I had already submitted my review below some time ago, and I just put on episode 108 “Underpants Captain”, and felt really compelled to say thank you. Thank you! You guys are truly awesome and continue to win me over day by day.
P.s. when are you watching and discussing Khosla Ka Ghosla! It has some of your favourite actors (I.e. friend of the show, Boman Irani ;) )
Original review below:
You guys are just a delight to listen to. I’m an Indian Canadian obsessed with Bollywood and listening to your podcast has made me revisit movies I’d forgotten about and also led me to watch some that I overlooked! I appreciate the research that you put into each episode and also appreciate you guys making an effort to pronounce things properly - but don’t sweat about that too much! It’s almost more fun listening to you guys talk about movies you didn’t like, lol! And finally, I wanna say that both of you are very respectful in expressing your thoughts and opinions on the Indian culture while discussing the movies. Always keeping it classy, professional and fun. Love Matt’s dry humour that he casually throws in at times and Erin always trying to stay on topic haha! Keep it up guys and release episodes more often! By far the best Bollywood podcast currently in the running. :) P.s. have you guys seen Khosla Ka Ghosla and Rang de Basanti? Would love to hear your take on episodes dedicated to these ones!
Refreshing!
I grew up in India in the ‘90s - loving & living Bollywood. When I moved out of the country, I also stepped out of my bubble spending time in different countries & cultures. Today, I still ardently love bollywood but when I revisit the films I watched growing up, they usually break my heart. They are often racist and misogynistic, and almost always causally sexist. Listening to you guys with your outsider’s perspective has been such a gift. The positivity you two bring to your discussions has helped me enjoy the lovely bits of old Bollywood again. Thank you for such an insightful, fun, and positive podcast! 💜
Love this!
My friend Chris introduced me to this podcast out of our own YEG and I love it. I love how the two of you have such a passion for Bollywood! I am being reminded of lots of movies I have watched but forgotten. And I am amazed at your knowledge of Indian movies! Love how you both get the names and pronunciations right. I am going to watch Kaala Pathar tonight. Keep up the great work.
