CANADALAND

After listening to episode #1025, I feel compelled to express my gratitude for the insightful information shared. I appreciate how both perspectives were presented, allowing space for thoughtful exchange without drawing a hard line between right and wrong. I’m especially grateful that Canadaland fosters these open conversations, encouraging diverse viewpoints and leaving room for listeners to reflect. From my own lived experience, I wholeheartedly believe we need a shift toward better mental health support and a focus on healing the brains of those struggling with addiction, giving them a true chance at recovery.

Deep down I always knew I couldn’t trust someone who wrote for Macleans magazine. After years of support we pulled our monthly financial contribution over a year ago to Canadaland. To say we are disappointed in the coverage of the ongoing geneocide of the Palestinian people is an understatement. You have lost both respect and credibility in the wider community. It will be journalists like yourself that will be remembered for upholding an apartheid regime. Pointing fingers at Free The children when your own hands are covered in blood- you are all cut from the same self serving cloth.

Jamming the new, awful version of Backbench into the main feed is too much. I already have to delete the unwanted French podcasts. Now it’s an additional weekly pile of waste. So far the new host has provided two episodes, one antisemitic ( or Schlomophobic to use Jessie’s new word) and one Trumpian. I’m unlikely to renew my paid subscription when it comes up in December. Hopefully, Jessie can right the ship now that he’s back in charge.

Regarding the on going genocide happening in occupied Palestine: I'm very sad that you've fallen into this grey area, "it's complicated", stance like so many other main stream media outlets. It's not complicated. It's rather simple. Israel is an apartheid regime and has inflicted unimaginable suffering on the Palestinian people for 75+ years. And to have the Israeli ambassador on your podcast spewing propaganda? I'm shocked. I thought y'all were credible journalists. It's hard coming to terms with the fact that your country was founded on ethic cleansing and committing genocide as we speak. I'm "Canadian", I get it, but to witness it happening in real time and still say, "but it's kinda complicated guys, why do you have to choose a side?" This is one of those situations where you are either on the right or wrong side of history. Also: Did you conveniently forget that on Oct 7th hundreds of the people were murdered by the IDF, and many hostages since? This was reported by Haaretz, ABC, and others... Israel is the occupying force. Gaza is a literal outdoor prison, not to even mention the settler-colonial violence going on in the occupied West Bank... There is bound to be resistance.
