    Understanding Men with Alison Armstrong

    Understanding Men with Alison Armstrong

Today's episode is extremely important and an absolute must for every woman who's struggling feeling unsupported, alone, forgotten and unappreciated always and during the Covid-19 pandemic. We're home with our partners and kids more than we've ever been, and especially now it is CRUCIAL to understand how men are built psychologically and how they think so we can get the help we need while supporting each other's needs.

I have used this language to communicate with my husband my need for alone time, my need for a clean kitchen at the end of the day, I got him to load the dishwasher and remember to turn it on. These are little things that seem insignificant in a man's head but to us, women, they are insurmountable in their effect and magnitude.

So Today's episode will help you to begin this conversation with your partner and hopefully alleviate some of the current stress, arguments, nagging, begging and constant bickering which causes so much destruction and disconnection instead of connecting during such challenging time. Right now we need each other more than ever, so let's make this productive and effective.

In today’s episode, you’ll hear me chat with Deborah Maragopoulos, a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in neuro-immune-endocrinology. Also known as the Hormone Queen, Deborah became an expert in gender identity, hormones and DNA after the birth of her intersex child.
I’ve reached out to Deborah after my own menstrual cycle went haywire.
    Highlights from today’s episode:
Deborah’s story of birthing an intersex child and her desire to understand hormones to support her child.
The hypothalamus gland and its role in hormonal health
What’s going on with our female bodies right now? Why are our cycles going haywire (my experience as a case study)
What’s the connection between adrenals and ovaries?
Is there such a thing as bad exercise? Is exercise stimulating our adrenals in a negative way?
What can we do nutritionally to stimulate Progesterone?
How about male hormones? How do their bodies respond to current stress and what we can do to support their wellbeing?
In the end, Deborah shared her definition of feminine power as well as what makes her feel confident, energized and sexy as a woman.
This is an important interview that will help you understand your body better so you don’t panic, stress too much or feel like you’re losing control over your body. We’re in this together! I am going through this alongside you and right now what works really well for me is educating and empowering myself with knowledge, ideas and practical action steps I can do.
Deborah is a powerhouse of information, knowledge and expertise and I hope you’ll enjoy listening to her as much as I did!

Transforming The Core of Motherhood with Jennifer Oliver (ep-154)

Transforming The Core of Motherhood with Jennifer Oliver (ep-154)

Today on the podcast I’m chatting with Jennifer Oliver, from fitmama.com
    Highlights from this episode
    1. Jennifer’s story of how she injured her back while being a mama of two young kids and how she’d emerged from that.
    2. Why do women lose their confidence after becoming a mom?
    3. What is true? Our physiology is a reflection of our psychology or the other way around?
    4. The connection between core strength and having foreign inserts in the body (i.e. IUD) and the body’s response to it.
    5. Are crunches good for us?
    6. The difference between yoga and pilates and engagement of core?
    7. How soon can you begin pilates postpartum?
    8. What is a reformer?
    9. Jen walked up through some breath work to strengthen the core
    10. Jen answers my questions about her as a woman, wife and mother (this is where we get real!)
This episode is a must-listen for all mamas who are struggling with getting back in shape postpartum as well as women who are way past labour but wish to strengthen their body while mothering their kids.
In my own personal experience, the core is the area of the body where I feel connected to my essence as a human being. It isn’t news that after labour and delivery many of us feel like we’ve ‘lost ourselves’ after motherhood and in my opinion reconnecting and strengthening that area of the body is a great place to start!

Using The Four Phases of Your Menstrual Cycle as a Healing & Self-Care Framework (with Dr. Alex Golden) [ep-150]

Using The Four Phases of Your Menstrual Cycle as a Healing & Self-Care Framework (with Dr. Alex Golden) [ep-150]

I am so excited to introduce you to Dr. Alex Golden, the co-founder of Zesty Ginger. Together with her partner, Megan Blacksmith, they teach women how to live in alignment with the four phases of their menstrual cycle.
Dr. Alex Golden is known for her integrative MD approach to health through both functional and conventional medicine and for teaching women the tools they need to be their own health advocates.
You are going to LOVE this interview, we’ve cover so much important points you need to know about as a woman!
This episode is an absolute MUST listen!
I have learned so much from Dr. Golden, she’s incredibly wise and intelligent and her life’s journey is inspiring on so many levels. She and I both have a Russian background and we talk about that too, navigating the Russian mentality and culture, healing from the Soviet upbringing is not an easy task. The Soviet-style of parenting is ridden with shame, critic, structure and a distance between parent and child. This is not an easy beast to dismantle and heal from and we both are still working on that.
    Highlights from today’s episode:
Alex’s story and journey from healing chronic pain all the way through her current work with women
The heartbreak of not having children, navigating a conversation with her husband, parents, in-laws and the pressure of that.
The curse of the good girl and grieving her so we can step into our best selves as women.
How Alex and Megan have discovered working with the four phases.
What makes the four phases work and the practice of trusting yourself as a woman.
The differentiation between owning your power as a woman and what you think you should be able to do compared to men.
Hormone balancing and working with the 4 phases of the menstrual cycle can be grouped into 2 overarching goals:1. Optimizing inflammatory cascades in the body (phases 1&2)2. Optimizing natural detoxification functions for a healthy metabolism and to properly process and remove hormones and hormone-mimicking substances (phases 3&4).
What to do if you don’t have a menstrual cycle?
