I finally get it
As a long time listener to this, one of my favourite political pods, I had often wondered about the “one of these things doesn’t belong” nature of the hosts. Jordan, Scott and David all seem thoughtful, nuanced, and generally objective in their observations and contributions. Even considering and often in spite of their political biases. So why does Kory always insist on spin, rhetoric and endless reciting of the latest cynical Conservative calculated messaging, never offering a creative, savvy insight? And why is he allowed to do this by the others, usually unchallenged? He is clearly far too intelligent and experienced to believe even a fraction of the stuff he says and the others are clearly smart enough to shred him on the merits of his click bait style lines and claims. But I finally get it - he’s on there in the role of an avatar for the listener. A representative of the worst of our modern political system, the literal “curse” of our politics! A Jester of sorts in your theatre. Glossy, wealthy, unapologetic, cynical to a fault, often absurd and self-contradictory, the polar opposite of all those he attempts to woo for votes, reciting empty slogans and pseudo-policies that serve only to elect his clients vs better the country. Pure genius, team! My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a thoughtful pundit from the centre right to fill that gap in insights, and to provide hope for the re-emergence of same someday in our political landscape.
