Did a journalist joke about “brutalizing children” with RCMP at the Fairy Creek blockades?

Did a journalist joke about “brutalizing children” with RCMP at the Fairy Creek blockades?

Over the weekend, a video leaked of a CBC reporter chuckling with an RCMP officer about “brutalizing innocent children” at the Fairy Creek blockades, raising broader questions about the relationship between the police and the media. Protesters have been setting up blockades over the last few months to prevent the logging of old-growth forest on Vancouver Island. The land is part of the traditional territory of the Pacheedaht First Nation. As of Monday, 53 people have been arrested as a result of the RCMP enforcing an injunction since last week. In today’s episode, Carol (@caroleugenepark) and Rumneek (@rumneeek) dive into the implications.
