Great Pod

Really enjoy this one, good info, good perspective. Wide variety. Wish they had more debate focussed conversations repping both sides. But you can get enough of the other side from mainstream news or the public.

Best news source

I learnt so much since I started listening to Democracy Now! The only thing I wish could change was more reporting on issues in China. Also, listening to news on audio is great but there are some information I miss because of that.

Essential Reporting from outside the Mainstream, but...

I have listened to Democracy Now! (Off and on) for about 5 years. Their depth of reporting - or the analysis of the reporting of other sources - is unparalleled. Except for maybe Intercepted. Democracy Now! does not mince words or pull punches and they are unapologetically critical of power structures regardless of where on the spectrum they lie (although they are definitely left of centre). There is only criticism I have against DN! is that they will sometimes leave out details on certain stories and sometimes (biting my lip) it seems to be to suit a narrative. That said, if you can find a major, mainstream corporate media source that is any closer to objective, please let me know. DN! praises all efforts, big or small, that make a positive difference as well, from grassroots high school movements to lesser known local politicians that are making themselves known on basic civil rights of their constituents. In the end, DN! works if you are tired of the accepted narrative but I still suggest to any listener to double check any story from any source. Lastly, take a break from time to time. This is a daily podcast that rarely is anything but extremely dark. This can take a heavy toll on a person emotionally and psychologically and it's important to give yourself a break.
