John C. Scott hosted Larry Bodine -- President of the Democrats of Greater Tucson, writer for the Blog for Arizona and Democratic National Delegate -- to discuss the successful Democratic Convention. Scott hosts the Political Forum on Saturdays on KVOA 1030AM.

After 23 years in office, Democrat Sharon Bronson is running for re-election as a Pima Supervisor with a record of supporting education, refusing the anti-immigrant Stonegarden grant, and fighting climate change.

In office since 1996, Sharon has also worked to implement economic development strategies that provide high-wage job growth, reduce economic disparity, and improve regional livability. She is also a strong proponent for criminal justice reform that provides equal protection under the law for all people. 

She also serves on the Chairman’s Circle for Sun Corridor Inc., is a board member of Visit Tucson, and serves as the Pima County representative to the Arizona Border Counties’ Coalition.

A Democratic Candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission, Bill discussed:

• Dark money corrupting Arizona elections.
• Water sustainability as power plants that suck up available water.
• The unjustified rate increases by monopoly utilities.
• Corporations having a duty to treat employees with respect and dignity.
• Public schools, and how a utility opposed increasing funding for teachers.
• Climate change.

When he chaired the Commission, Arizona became one of the first states to require utilities to generate a percentage of their electricity from renewable energy sources. Those early decisions laid the groundwork for the statewide Renewable Energy Standard Tariff (REST), of which bill was the principle authored.

Rex Scott will talk about how his background and experience prepared him to be a Pima County supervisor, his priorities if elected to the office, and the strategic advantages of his campaign that will help us to flip this seat from red to blue.

Rex Scott has been a Pima County resident since 1991, having moved here when he was 27 years old. He has served our children as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at 7 schools: Flowing Wells Junior High School, Gridley Middle School, Doolen Middle School, Ironwood Ridge High School, Catalina High School, Howenstine High School, and Tortolita Middle School.

His priorities as a strong voice for all District One residents will be:


Fostering economic development and business expansion
Fixing and maintaining county roads and infrastructure
Supporting law enforcement and first responders
Advocating for quality early childhood education for all our kids
Prioritizing customer service and efficient operations
Working with other jurisdictions to increase the stock of affordable housing
Ensuring that our environment and natural resources are protected
