DOOMED makes Conspiracy Politics palatable and reliable …
I enjoyed and recommend the episode with The Serfs, and will continue to test Matt on other topics, keeping in mind that he is the premier ‘go-to’ source on anything Q-ANON, should you want to understand that phenomenon in better detail …
Decent Podcast covering the Right from a Left Wing POV
This is a decent podcast covering the Right from a left-wing perspective. The host, Matt Binder, is entertaining and has a good voice.
However, I think he does sometimes have knee-jerk reactions to adopt what is supposedly the “correct” left-wing position without really thinking through what he’s saying.
For example, in a recent episode, Matt claimed, without qualification, that “we know conservatives don’t care about children.” So I guess half of USA have no morals whatsoever, inhuman or something.
In the same episode, his guest constantly links transphobia into white supremacy like they are one and the same; I guess transphobia isn’t bad enough on its own, everything has to be dialled up to 11. Matt apparently thought this was genius insight as he called the episode his best on the show.
In his abortion debate on Tim Pool’s show (who am I no fan of, the guy is a liar, and I am pro-choice), when Tim tried to probe Matt further on his beliefs via thought experiments, Matt dismisses this out of hand as pointless philosophizing. Matt has said this in other contexts too, that he doesn’t care about philosophy, only “politics”—as if politics isn’t littered with complicated moral questions at every turn, as if positions don’t require rigorous justification. To me this shows intellectual laziness. Abortion is a complicated moral question, and reading some philosophy papers on it can be fascinating and eye-opening. You can’t just dismiss the field of philosophy as pointless because philosophy is critical thinking.
