Following the abuse that Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka faced after the men’s European Championship Final in July 2021, Dr Thomas Fletcher (School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management) and Dr Daniel Kilvington (School of Cultural Studies and Humanities) talk to Professor Leanne Norman (Director of the Research Centre for Social Justice in Sport and Society) about a new major Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project entitled ‘Tackling online hate in football’. Specifically, Tom and Dan discuss the need for this project, the scale of online hate in football and other sports, as well as how this project will contribute to tackling the problem.
