Best Basketball Podcast
I hadn’t yet paid for any podcast content but when Dunc’d On went to a subscription model, I didn’t hesitate to subscribe. It is far and away the best NBA content and the first pod I listen to every morning (for the past 3 years). The content is insightful, in depth, creative and fun. It focuses on all 30 teams and on the in game action not just the off court stuff (though there’s plenty of that too). They also go into the why and not just cover the what.
If you are hardcore NBA fan or just want to learn, this is the one podcast you must subscribe to.
I agree that once you have established a base ad-free subscriptions is the future as it allows the content creators to focus on the content instead of selling ads. Next step will likely be consolidation allowing listeners to save with scale like what Spotify is trying to do.
Regular listener
Usually love the podcast. Just listened to the 2024 Playoffs podcast. Guys, come on now. Not every time should a team play it by the numbers. Your cheap shots at Thibs and the Knicks were embarrassing. Have you guys played sports? You. Play. To. Win. The. Game. How would the Knicks players have reacted to Thibs changing up his entire mindset to say, hey let’s try to lose to the Bulls so we can play the Pacers in the first round. The Knicks don’t care who they play in the first round. They believe they can beat anyone. What different mindset should a top playoff team have?
The most embarrassing thing I saw on Sunday (besides your Knicks take) was the Cavs playing four 5’s and one 4, which you guys thought was humorous. Such a terrible mindset from a playoff team. Cavs will regret messing with the spirit of the game. You guys should apologize to the Knicks and Thibs. The spirit of the game should always be to win the game when you are a playoff team. Tanking, I can understand. Anyways, do better.
Incredible show, one piece of feedback
Nate and all the regulars (Danny, Seth etc) are outstanding and provide the best content of all the NBA podcasts as far as I’m concerned. The focus on players as players and teams as teams instead of players as personalities/celebrities and teams as collections of prima donnas is welcome, as is the chemistry between Nate and all the contributors, particularly Danny, I really enjoy how the banter between you two has evolved.
My feedback has to do with language used. I’m not sure why educated presenters like Nate are unaware of the words “improve” “receive” and “which”?
The preference for “he got better” over “he improved” - for “he got a big payday” over “he received a big pay” and “what player” over “which player” makes the pod unlistenable at times, hope you’ll consider this feedback and make a change in favour of language that demonstrates your education level!
