    ACTS 28

    ACTS 28

    In this sermon, Jairos Banda is going to draw out some principles from the life and the ministry of Paul that should also guide us in our walk with the Lord.

    A few notes from the Sermon:

    1. We should trust God no matter the circumstances

    2. We should not test God by deliberately picking snakes so as to demonstrate the power of God.

    WHY CHRISTIANS BELIEVE IN THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY

    WHY CHRISTIANS BELIEVE IN THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY

    We have come to uphold to this truth as Christians because the Holy Scripture leads us to this conclusion. It is the Holy Scripture that proclaims to us that God is one “ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one (Deuteronomy 6:4, NIV).” And it is the same scripture that testifies of the Son as God, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God (Isaiah 9:6.” NIV).” Concerning the Holy Spirit, it is written, “You have not lied to men but to God (Acts 5:4, NIV).” Three persons have been Called God and we have been told we have one God. We uphold that to be truth that God is one and also other testimonies of scripture concerning three persons said to be God as true. Therefore, we believe the word of God for what it says and comfortably live that God is one but in three persons: The Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.

    The Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name

    The Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name

    Sermon by Jairos Banda

    Theme: Exalting Jesus

    Text: Luke 1:46-55

    The song of Mary: when she considered the fulfilment of the coming Messiah through her.

    Luke 1:46-55, NIV

    46 And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name. 50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. 51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. 52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful 55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,even as he said to our fathers."

    THE FIRST ADVENT OF CHRIST: THE GOD OF HOPE FOR BOTH THE JEWS AND THE GENTILES

    THE FIRST ADVENT OF CHRIST: THE GOD OF HOPE FOR BOTH THE JEWS AND THE GENTILES

    Text: Romans 15:8-13

    Preacher: Jairos Banda

    Context: The context is that the strong should bear with the weak. The foundation is built on the example of Christ who endured great insult in order to reach out to us for the glory of God. In other words, the whole context calls us to endure in doing what is good for each other as Jesus did because the coming of Christ to save us while we were still weak is the act of God’s mercy toward us. Romans 15:8-13, serves as a bedrock of our understanding of bearing with one another and knowing the mercies of God given to us by God through Christ.  Because of that work of God in Christ we have now hope in God through Christ for the glory of God the Father.

    Romans 15:8-13: For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed 9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written:

    “Therefore, I will praise you among the Gentiles;
     I will sing the praises of your name.”

    10 Again, it says,

    “Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.”

    11 And again,

    “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
     let all the peoples extol him.”

    12 And again, Isaiah says,

    “The Root of Jesse will spring up,
     one who will arise to rule over the nations;
     in him the Gentiles will hope.”

    13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
