Episode 154: Interview with Alina Hui-Wen Sato

Episode 154: Interview with Alina Hui-Wen Sato

Alina has been a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) nurse since 2010. She often jokes that as an introvert and a fairly low-stimulation kind of person, she is working in a job where she doesn't belong. Yet her passion for nursing has only grown over time, despite all of its incredible demands, complexities, and growing moral dilemmas. It is not an easy profession to be in, which makes her fight all the more fiercely for herself and her colleagues to find, rediscover, reframe, and sustain a deep sense of meaning and calling for the work we do.
    Published Writing:
She has published work in American Journal of Nursing and blogs regularly for them on Off the Charts. She has also published work in Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine, The Oxford Handbook of Meaningful Work, and The Healer’s Burden: Stories and Poems of Professional Grief.
Her TEDxTalk with TEDxPasadena in 2017 on “How Grief Can Enable Nurses to Endure” (which was promoted to the main TED.com page in 2020 as “How Grief Helped Me Become a Better Caregiver.”)

Episode 153: Interview with Bri Stensrud

Bri Stensrud is an author, human dignity advocate, and the Director of Women of Welcome. Her passion is to equip the Church to engage more consistently and tangibly in holistic human dignity issues. Throughout her previous work in the pro-life movement, Bri continually faced questions from those concerned about immigrants and refugees. Understanding that many concerns were rooted in fear and misinformation, she started a journey to detangle from politically partisan narratives and seek out a biblical perspective to uplift and advocate for immigrants and refugees.

She holds a Masters of Biblical & Theological Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and has authored two books: Start with Welcome: The Journey toward a Confident and Compassionate Immigration Conversation, and a children’s book: The Biggest Best Light: Shining God’s Light into the World Around You.

For such a time as this

I can’t recommend this podcast enough. The hosts, the guests - beautiful people with beautiful hearts telling the beautiful story of the value of women. I’m so incredibly thankful for this podcast. It
re-centers me to once again believe and see how Jesus values and esteems women in a world where the message can be entirely different. I look forward to every new episode. I truly believe God has placed each voice on this podcast to proclaim His message of love and hope and healing and purpose for such a time as this. So grateful.

A Blessing

I appreciate the podcast and enjoy listening to the people they bring on to interview. It has been a blessing to me. My four star rating is that sometimes it leaves me with twinges that in some cases they are celebrating the value of women who are already celebrated in our modern day Christian culture.

Mrs.Lem ,

So relevant.

Such a wealth of encouraging conversations. I’ve been so blessed by the many different voices on here, and for the way topics are handled. Hard stuff is met with compassion, tough stuff is not skipped over. There is love, laughter, and relevant content for today’s marriages, relationships, homes, and churches.
