The language threw me off

I understand what Allison was trying to do in bringing awareness to Elma Sands’ murder and how her life got lost in the shuffle of the new era.
I feel that in an attempt to update the language to something more current, Elma’s story became too casual and the people around her like some sort of vaudeville act.
It’s like in an effort to entertain, the tone and casual language ended up lacking the empathy that the subject deserved.

An interesting case but scripting did not land for me

This was an interesting case I had not heard of but the story was not served well by the use of contemporary dialogue; using the language of 1800 New York would have been far more effective and historically appropriate.
