To be human is to fail – period. And not just to fail once, but to fail a lot. As the author Samuel Beckett said: “Fail again. Fail better.” This saying means a lot to me and my family – so much so that my daughter got a tattoo of it. Why are we, and so many others, so deeply concerned by failure? And if it’s something we all do so often, why are we so afraid of it – especially those of us here in win-at-all-costs America? In this podcast, I sit down with successful, thoughtful people like Ben Stiller, Bette Midler, Sean Penn and more to talk about failure – or what they labeled “failure,” but what was really an unparalleled opportunity for growth and revelation. I even want to delve into my own hardest moments, when I wrestled with setbacks, shame, and fear. We’ll still fail again. And again. But maybe if we fail better, we’ll feel better -- and maybe if we can all laugh together in failure, that's a start.

I am a podcast lover. I listen to many genres, and get different needs met by them. This is the first podcast that makes me feel like I’m sitting in my cozy living room having a deep chat with good friends. David’s interview style is so sincere, vulnerable, and intelligent. He provides space for his guests to be open and vulnerable, and he never makes it about himself. I love everything about this podcast with one exception: the ads. I know it’s part of the business but I find it jarring when David’s beautiful voice is telling me about the wonders of Air BnB or other products and services. I will certainly keep listening though. Thank you David Duchovny!
Fail Better is for everyone who’s interested in being a better human.

I never watched X-files because I was too busy with my own career /children balancing act, and trying not to feel guilty all the time. I come to David by way of @gilliana who gave him an emotional and glowing shout-out a day or two ago. And I feel blessed that she did! Thank you Gillian. If you need a path to not feeling alone in all the things you could have done better and to improving your self-kindness, listen to David and his guests ! The raw emotion of the Gabor interview will help me to continue to just share my heart with more and more people in my life, especially my young adult children. Blessings all! Stephanie Lafond 🇨🇦

I love learning from other’s failures. It eases the anxiety of failure.

Did anyone else see the irony about listening to David describe in detail his non obsession for food and how he consumes food and thinks of food as fuel and energy only. And then on his commercial break breaks into a monotone advertisement for some food delivery service. Not believable. Probably should find different advertisers…. Just saying
