Whitecaps/MLS support

Hey guys, first off, love the podcast!

You talked about Whitecaps and Palace support this week. I’m a born and raised Palace fan from South London, who has lived in Canada for 14 years (I escaped Croydon - woohoo), who now lives in Vancouver and has spent time, in the past, in one of the Whitecaps supporters groups (Jordan Mutch followed me - d’oh!).

In terms of why the fans cheered an away player - I hated that too, however the Whitecaps ‘front office’ are guilty of horrendous mismanagement, and a ‘laissez-faire’ attitude towards achieving any success in the league whatsoever - an unfortunate byproduct of the lack of a threat of relegation.

In regards to North American/MLS support - to call them ‘ultras’ is a massive misnomer; It is a bit manufactured (the league is only 20 years old, so what can you expect?), and definitely not so visceral, but that also is a good thing. You see a lot more families and women at games, and in general there feels like there is a lot less venomous environment. Make no mistake though, it is not perfect - I have heard homophobic comments in the stands before. Yet another hurdle football needs to clear, but that few people talk about.

As for Palace - the reason people give the Holmesdale Fanatics stick is because they get so much focus and appreciation from the vast majority. Whenever Palace are on telly here, the commentators always mention them, and the atmosphere they create. Perhaps other fans should focus on creating their own atmosphere instead of being facilitators at a ‘library’ ;)

Thanks again for your awesome work!

The Best

This is the podcast I wait for twice each week. It makes being in the car enjoyable as I listen on my way home from work. I’m sure there are other drivers on the road who wonder why I am laughing and smiling.

@#$% Nicknames ,

The Guardian Football pundits are stealing a living.

I had no idea whatsoever that Barry/"Baz" Glendenning was of Irish citizenship. It's like he's trying to hide it or something. I'm sure that piece about Manchester City's circular dressing room under Pep Guardiola is still being shared around the world So much so that Baz's head must still be spinning.

The best thing I can say about "Baz" is that he doesn’t sound in any way at all like James Richardson, and all the baggage that comes with being that person. Richardson sounds like an eccentric rapist what with all the weird breathing and so on. I was happy to see him leave. I don't care why.

Even if Max Rushton leaves as host, I fear for the future. Barry is Irish right? I haven't been reminded of that for the past five minutes or-dare I say I it-I might have forgotten.

Also, include more women in the podcast. Surely women have opinions about football just as men do, They are more interesting to listen to than any of you at all have by far.

Someone who suffers because of you. Thank you. Don't change a thing. All of you are magical people. Is Barry still Irish? I can never tell.

Is it because you give it away for free? Is that why it's @#$%? Or are all of you just awful at what you do?
