Gamers With Jobs - Conference Call

Gamers with jobs is and always has been oasis for gamers want a positive and supportive community. This podcast has a great collection of hosts and guests whose love of games and gamers is infectious.

The original GWJ podcast was my go to gaming podcast - felt like hanging out with old friends who also happened to be both funny and insightful about games. It was as comfortable to listen to as it was well-researched. The new hosts have taken things in a directlion that doesn't work for me personally. Feels like games now just a fascade over whichever issues the hosts really want to talk about. This again, would probably be a great podcast for the right audience, but given the epic podcast this used to be, it's a bummer.

Update: This podcast used to be the best gaming podcast around, I started listening to it in 2008, but I can’t be bothered to listen to it anymore. About a year and a half ago the host changed and with that almost all the regular co-host dropped off the regular program. The new crew is not bad per se, and I listened to it every week for a year and a half or so, but clearly I preferred the old cast. I’m ready to move on. Original: These guys are simply the best. The podcasts last most of the time over an hour (some even are shy of 2 hours) but rarely gets dull. I've listened over the last two months to their entire back catalogue of episodes straight from their website and they've made my days at work a lot more pleasant. My co-worker and I are simply hooked.

This is a tough one - I’ve listened to this podcast for the better part of the decade, and I’d say it was great to fantastic until fairly recently. With changes to the hosts though, much of the old energy is gone. I started listening because it was a show about video games, and that remains true. I kept listening for years because the hosts were all very witty, had great banter and were willing to tease each other mercilessly - much of this is gone in recent episodes. It’s not that Amanda as lead or the other hosts are bad per se - they’re all doing a serviceable job - it’s just that the old chemistry is gone. It’s less a conversation among friends and more a dull recitation of what everyone’s playing. The shine is gone. Anyone coming to the show now will probably have a higher opinion of it.
